The award winning picture: Water Lilies

The Plano Photography Club entered this picture of mine into June photo competition of Gulf States Camera Club Council (GSCCC). All the three judges gave it a perfect score of 5. It scored 15 points and won the first prize of the digital pictorial.

GSCCC is a council consists of 35 photograph clubs of 5 states in gulf area. Many big photograph clubs such as Houston Camera Club and Dallas Camera Club are its member clubs. Each month every member clubs are allowed to enter up to 4 pictures into the pictorial competition. For more information about this picture in GSCCC megazine please read this link.  http://www.gulfstatesccc.org/newsletters/gscccnewsletter201307.pdf

I took this picture at Taipei Botanic Garden last September when I just got the Nikon d800, my first full frame camera. This picture was taken in the early morning with Tamron 70-300 lens. I applied the focus stacking, take same picture with different focal points to ensure both flowers were sharply focused, and combined two pictures in the post process for the final image.

To make a good picture, one need to be at the right place at the right time when the light is perfect. I was pretty lucky on this one. To view more water lilies from my album, you may click 植物園的蓮花 or go from this blog and look for Taiwan/plants and flowers.
